FLAT SURFACES SUCH AS ROADS.
Fire Fighting Procedures:DON'T ENTER CONFINED SPACE W/O FULL TURNOUT
GEAR INCLUDING SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS. WATER MAY BE
USED TO COOL FIRE EXPOSED CONTAINERS.
Unusual Fire/Explosion Hazard:HOT ASPHALT MAY IGNITE FLAMMABLE MATERIAL
ON CONTACT. DON'T USE WATER ON ASPHALT FIRE IN TANK/CONTAINERS,
CAUSES VIOLENT ERUPTION/SPREADING OF BURNING ASPHALT.

Accidental Release

Spill Release Procedures:DIKE STORAGE TANKS TO PREVENT MATERIAL FROM
ENTERING SEWERS OR WATERWAYS. USE APPROPRIATE CONTAINMENT (BOOMS,
ETC.) TO PREVENT DISPERSION WHEN A SPILL IS OUT OF DIKED AREA OR
HAS REACHED A WATERWAY.

Handling and Storage Precautions:HYDROGEN SULFIDE IS EMITTED FROM
HEATED ASPHALT & MAY ACCUMULATE IN STORAGE TANKS & BULK TRANSPORT
COMPARTMENTS.
Other Precautions:THE ODOR OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE CANNOT BE USED AS AN
INDICATOR OF CONCENTRATION OF THE GAS. ALWAYS EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN
WORKING AROUND CLOSED BULK CONTAINERS OF ASPHALT. USE VENTILATION
OR WORK UPWIND F ROM SOURCE OF FUMES OR VAPORS.

Exposure Controls

Respiratory Protection:IF FUMES ARE >TLV, USE A NIOSH APPROVED
RESPIRATOR SUCH AS AN AIR PURIFYING RESPIRATOR FOR ORGANIC VAPORS
OR A SUPPLIED AIR RESPIRATOR.
Ventilation:PROVIDE AMBIENT VENTILATION.
Protective Gloves:RECOMMENDED
