First Aid

First Aid:INHALATION: REMOVE TO FRESH AIR. GIVE ASSISTED RESPIRATION &
SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN IF NEEDED. TREAT SYMPTOMATICALLY THEREAFTER.
SKIN: FROZEN TISSUES SHOULD BE FLOODED/SOAKED W/TEPID WATER
(105-115F). DO N'T USE HOT WATER. OBTIAN MEDICAL ATTENTION IN ALL
CASES.

Fire Fighting

Fire Fighting Procedures:TURN OFF SOURCE OF NITROUS OXIDE & FIGHT LIKE
CONVENTIONAL FIRE.
Unusual Fire/Explosion Hazard:NITROUS OXIDE IS NONFLAMMABLE BUT
SUPPORTS & ACCELERATES COMBUSTION OF FLAMMABLES. SOME NONFLAMMABLES
IN AIR WILL BURN IN PRESENCE OF NITROUS OXIDE. (SEE SUPP)

Accidental Release

Spill Release Procedures:MOVE LEAKING CYLINDERS OUTDOORS/TO A WELL
VENTILATED AREA SUCH AS AN EXHAUST FUME HOOD. REMOVE ALL
FLAMMABLE/COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL FROM AREA IF POSSIBLE.

Handling

Handling and Storage Precautions:USE ONLY IN WELL VENTILATED AREAS.
OPEN NITROS OXIDE VALVES SLOWLY. CHAIN CYLINDERS WHEN IN USE. STORE
IN WELL VENTILATED AREAS.
Other Precautions:PREVENT CONTACT OF LIQUID W/EXPOSED SKIN. PREVENT
ENTRAPMENT OF LIQUID IN CLOSED SYSTEMS. AVOID DRAGGING,
ROLLING/SLIDING CYLINDERS, EVEN FOR A SHORT DISTANCE. USE A
SUITABLE HAND TRUCK. (SEE SUPP)

Exposure Controls

Respiratory Protection:WEAR A SCBA IN OXYGEN DEFICIENT ATMOSPHERE.
CAUTION: RESPIRATORS WILL NOT FUNCTION; USE MAY RESULT IN
ASPHYXIATION.

BE USEFUL IN CERTAIN APPLICATIONS.
Protective Gloves:LEATHER
Eye Protection:SAFETY GLASSES
Other Protective Equipment:NONE
Supplemental Safety and Health
UNUSUAL FIRE: NITROUS OXIDE IS EXPLOSIVE DUE TO DECOMPOSITION INTO
ELEMENTAL NITROGEN & OXYGEN UNDER EXTREME HEAT. OTHER PRECAUTIONS:
KEEP CYLINDERS AWAY FROM HEAT SOURCES & FLAMMABLE/COMBUSTIBLE MATE
RIALS. NEVER LUBRICATE VALVES/CYLINDER CAPS. SEGREGATE FULL & EMPTY
CYLINDERS.
