IRRITATION. MATERIAL IS IRRITATING TO MUCOUS MEMBRANES AND UPPER
RESPIRATORY TRACT. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: WHE N INGESTED EMETINE
PRODUCES NAUSEA AND VOMITING. INJECTION PRODUCES PAIN, MUSCLE
STIFFNESS, NECROSIS, ABSCESS FORMATION. OTHER ADVERSE EFFECTS
INCLUDED NAUSEA, VOMITING, DIARRHEA, DIZZINESS, HEADACHE,
URTICARIA, PURPURIC SKIN RASH. MATERIAL ACCUMULATES MAINLY IN THE
LIVER BUT APPRECIABLE LEVELS ARE ALSO FOUND IN THE KIDNEY, SPLEEN
AND LUNGS PERSISTING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS IN THESE TISSUES. PROLONGED
ADMINISTRATION OR (EFTS OF OVEREXP)
Effects of Overexposure:HLTH HAZ: LARGE DOSES MAY CAUSE LESIONS OF THE
HEART, KIDNEYS, LIVER, GASTRO-INTESTINAL TRACT AND SKELETAL MUSCLE.
SEVERE DEGENERATIVE MYOCARDITIS MAY OCCUR GIVING RISE TO SUDDEN
CARDIAC FAILURE AND D EATH. OTHER SERIOUS CARDIOVASCULAR EFFECTS
INCLUDE PRECORDIAL PAIN, DYSPNEA, TACHYCARDIA AND HYPOTENSION. ECG
CHANGES INCLUDE T-WAVE INVERSION, PROLONGATION OF THE Q-T INTERVAL
AND ST ELEVATION.

First Aid

First Aid:EYES OR SKIN: IMMEDIATELY FLUSH WITH COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF WATER
FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES WHILE REMOVING CONTAMINATED CLOTHING AND
