Hazards
LD50 LC50 Mixture:SEE TOXICOLOGICAL
Routes of Entry: Inhalation:YES Skin:YES Ingestion:YES
Reports of Carcinogenicity:NTP:NO IARC:NO OSHA:NO
Health Hazards Acute and Chronic:EYES ARE LISTED AS A ROUTE OF ENTRY.
ACUTE EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE: LIQUID IS CORROSIVE TO SKIN AND
PROLONGED CONTACT MAY CAUSE SEVERE IRRITATION AND BURNS. VAPORS,
LIQUID AND MISTS ARE EXTREMELY CORROSIV E TO THE EYES. BRIEF
CONTACT OF THE VAPORS WILL BE IRRITATING AND CONTACT WITH LIQUID
MISTS MAY CAUSE PERMANENT EYE INJURY. SWALLOWING THE LIQUID BURNS
THE TISSUES, CAUSES SEVERE ABDOMINAL PAIN, NAUSE A, VOMITING,
COLLAPSE AND POSSIBLY DEATH. INHALATION MAY IRRITATE THE
RESPIRATORY TRACT AND CAUSE DROWSINESS, ANXIETY, NAUSEA AND
VOMITING. DIETHYLAMINOETHANOL IS MODERATELY TOXIC BY SKIN
ABSORPTION. (SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF OVEREXPOSURE)
Explanation of Carcinogenicity:NOT A SUSPECTED OR CONFIRMED CARCINOGEN
(REFERENCE TO OSHA, NTP, IARC).
Effects of Overexposure:HEALTH HAZARDS ACUTE AND CHRONIC (CONT'D):
CHRONIC EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE: MAY RESULT IN AREAS OF PRIMARY
IRRITANT DERMATITIS. INHALATION MAY CAUSE LUNG DAMAGE. ANIMAL
STUDIES INDICATE TESTICULAR ATROPHY AND THYROID IN CHRONIC FEEDING
STUDIES.
Medical Cond Aggravated by Exposure:PERSONS WITH IMPAIRED BREATHING MAY
BE AT INCREASED RISK IF CONCENTRATED MISTS ARE INHALED. OPEN
WOUNDS, RASHES OR SORES MAY BE IRRITATED.
First Aid
First Aid:SKIN: FLUSH WITH WATER, THEN WASH THOROUGHLY WITH SOAP AND
WATER. EYES: FLUSH WITH WATER FOR 15 MINUTES AND SEEK MEDICAL
ATTENTION. INGESTION: DRINK PLENTY OF WATER AND CONSULT A PHYSICIAN
IMMEDIATELY . AVOID ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING BY
MOUTH TO AN UNCONSCIOUS PERSON. INHALATION: MOVE VICTIM TO FRESH
AIR. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IF BREATHING DIFFICULTY PERSISTS. APPLY
ARTIFICIAL RES PIRATION IF NECESSARY. IN THE EVENT OF A CHEMICAL
SPILL, LEAK, FIRE, EXPOSURE OR ACCIDENT CALL CHEMTREC AT
1-800-424-9300.
Fire Fighting
Flash Point Method:TCC
Flash Point:>93.3C, 200.F
Extinguishing Media:WATER, CARBON DIOXIDE, DRY CHEMICAL OR FOAM.
Fire Fighting Procedures:WEAR NIOSH-APPROVED SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING
APPARATUS AND FULL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT . KEEP DRUMS THAT ARE
EXPOSED TO FIRE COOL WITH WATER. WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND SCBA.
Unusual Fire/Explosion Hazard:TOXIC FUMES MAY BE GENERATED. MAY FLASH
IF WATER IS DRIVEN OFF. DEAE FLASHES AT 120 F.
Accidental Release
Spill Release Procedures:WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. EXTINGUISH ALL
IGNITION SOURCES. FOR SMALL SPILLS OR DRIPS, MOP OR WIPE UP AND
DISPOSE OF IN DOT APPROVED WASTE CONTAINER. FOR LARGE SPILLS, PUMP
INTO DOT APPROVED CONTAINERS OR ABSORB WITH INERT MATERIAL SUCH AS
SAND OR CLAY AND SHOVEL TO WASTE CONTAINERS. KEEP MATERIAL OUT OF
SEWERS, STORM DRAINS, SURFACE WATERS AND SOIL.
Handling
Handling and Storage Precautions:KEEP CONTAINER CLOSED WHEN NOT IN USE.
Other Precautions:AVOID SKIN AND EYE CONTACT. DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY.
KEEP CONTAINER CLOSED WHEN NOT IN USE. AVOID BREATHING VAPORS OR
MISTS. WASH THOROUGHLY AFTER HANDLING AND BEFORE EATING, DRINKING,
OR SMOKING.
Exposure Controls
Respiratory Protection:IF USE CONDITIONS GENERATE VAPORS OR MISTS WEAR
A NIOSH-APPROVED RESPIRATOR APPROPRIATE FOR THOSE EMISSION LEVELS.
IF LEVELS ARE >50 TIMES THE TLV USE AN AIR SUPPLIED RESPIRATOR.
Ventilation:LOCAL EXHAUST: RECOMMENDED IN CONFINED SPACES. MECHANICAL
EXHAUST VENTILATION SUFFICIENT TO REMOVE AIR CONTAMINANTS FROM
OPERATOR'S AREA.
Protective Gloves:RUBBER OR IMPERVIOUS GLOVES.
Eye Protection:CHEMICAL SAFETY GLASSES OR FACE SHIELD.
Other Protective Equipment:EYEWASH AND DELUGE SHOWER MEETING ANSI
DESIGN CRITERIA . RUBBER APRON IF SPLASHING LIKELY.
Work Hygienic Practices:AVOID BREATHING VAPORS OR MISTS. WASH
THOROUGHLY AFTER HANDLING AND BEFORE EATING, DRINKING, SMOKING.
